Breeze Turner naps with two of the many foster puppies her family has fostered.

They were later adopted and are now Coco and Princess!

Foster parenting is taking one or more homeless animals into your home for a limited period of time and providing love, shelter, training, nutrition, and in some cases medical care.  Most humane shelters, including The Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation (AARF), have a limit to the number of days they are able to keep animals awaiting adoption.  After that limit most animals are humanely euthanized.  Foster families fill the gap of ongoing care for those animals in an effort to find them loving forever homes.  Even “no-kill” shelters depend on foster families as an extension of their facilities.  AARF has a number of cases where foster families have provided homes and a second chance for Anguilla •s• homeless animals.

Fostering can be a great idea for people who do not spend the entire year here in Anguilla, but would like to have the joy of caring for an animal on a short term basis.  It is an extremely rewarding experience for all involved.  Fostering provides an opportunity to give of oneself to help an animal in need and it is not a life long commitment (unless of course you want it to be!).

If you are interested in providing foster care to one or more of our homeless animals, please contact Amy at Morlens Veterinary Hospital 497- 4600
